When you picture a perfect wedding day, what comes to mind?
I imagine full hearts, unending joy, and being surrounded by your closest family & friends as you marry your best friend and forever life partner. Margaret & Chris’ wedding encapsulated just that.
Despite a pandemic changing all of their plans, they executed one of the loveliest, most heart-warming weddings we’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. From Chris’ 5-page long vows recapping almost a decade of steadfast love to the 6-page long maid of honor speech by Margaret’s twin sister, Cate, this was a wedding to remember.
The wedding ended up happening at Margaret’s parents’ home on Sept 27, which was Margaret’s grandparent’s anniversary. They were married for an amazing 60 years and are so important to Margaret & Chris’ relationship! They chose to keep their wedding in 2020 in large part to make sure her grandpa could attend (he’s 93 years old)!
Margaret’s parents home is also where Chris proposed to Margaret, and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. It felt only right that they then got to tie the knot in the exact same place.
Every piece of jewelry Margaret wore had significance and came from her family.
First look with Todd, Margaret’s dad. Their family’s reaction was the absolute best!
They had socially distanced intimate ceremony in the front yard. The speeches were beyond special, and had everyone in tears. Their neighbors set out lawn chairs and watched from their yards. Such a special event for the whole neighborhood!
We spent the afternoon taking their first photos as husband and wife at the beautiful Northwestern lakefront. Margaret studied at Northwestern for grad school and her father actually helped design the beautiful Ryan Center of the Musical Arts. Margaret & Chris are just STUNNING!
The most heartfelt speeches and toasts filled the home with love during the intimate reception of family and the closest of friends. From heaping plates of lasagna from Pasta Fresh to delicious vegan cake from Blind Faith Cafe, both bellies & hearts were happy. Margaret’s mother actually owned the beautiful china you see below! So beautiful.
Cheers to Margaret & Chris! The best is yet to come…including a big wedding celebration in Dec of 2021! :) So excited for you two as you journey into marriage together.
